The Executive Office of Transportation and the Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs announced a project to install a utility-scale wind turbine on 68 acres of state-owned land adjacent to the Massachusetts Turnpike’s Blandford Rest Area in western Massachusetts.
Studies show the winds at the Hampden County location, which is the highest elevation on the Pike, could support a 1.5 megawatt turbine capable of producing enough clean energy to power roughly 400 households.
