The Executive Office of Transportation (EOT) today announced three Community Planning Workshops to seek public ideas and input on the proposed ‘28X’ bus enhancement project. EOT is proposing to use federal economic stimulus funding to dramatically transform the existing MBTA Route 28 into the 28X, providing more comfortable and more efficient service from Mattapan Square to Ruggles Station.
The 28X would operate via Blue Hill Avenue and Warren Street and serve Dudley Station, a hub of MBTA bus service. The new service will include dedicated bus lanes, new stations with amenities such as heaters and CharlieCard machines, 60-foot clean-running buses, and traffic features designed to speed up service and dramatically improve reliability.
By transforming the entire Route 28 into the 28X, riders will be able to more easily and more quickly connect to more than a dozen bus routes at Dudley and Ruggles Stations, as well as to the Orange and Red Lines.
The Community Planning Workshops will be held on:
June 8, 2009 – 6:00pm - 8pm
Dudley Branch Library
65 Warren Street, Roxbury
June 9, 2009 – 6:00pm - 8pm
Mattapan Branch Library
1350 Blue Hill Avenue, Mattapan
June 10, 2009 – 6:00pm - 8:00pm
