MassHighway Commissioner Luisa Paiewonsky joined Mayor Joseph C. Sullivan and the students of Donald Ross Elementary School in Braintree on "Walk to School Day." Ross School Principal Donna Bonarrigo hosted Commissioner Paiewonsky and Mayor Sullivan on the walking school bus to the Ross School to meet all the other walkers. This is one of hundreds of events at schools across that Commonwealth in which students walk and bicycle to school as part of the Commonwealth’s Safe Routes to School program.
Safe Routes to School is a critical part of the Commonwealth’s transportation and health strategies. The Executive Office of Transportation (EOT) partners with 217 elementary and middle schools that are attended by almost 100,000 students in 88 communities all across the Commonwealth to deliver the Safe Routes to School program. Walking and bicycling safely to school is a healthy choice for students and good for the environment.

Huh? Don't people walk to work everyday? Nobody will choose to take the bus if they're close enough to walk or bike. You really think people are not aware of the option of walking?
Aren't you gus supposed to be short on money? If some of your people need something to do, have them man the tolls or fill a pothole.
