MBTA Transit Police today are reminding T riders to take common sense steps to prevent theft at parking facilities and bike racks, in the wake of recent smash and grab thefts.
Police distributed fliers such as the one at left. Among the tips:
In parking lots, conceal valuables such as GPS locators, cell phones, and laptops in the trunk or under the seat.
Bike riders should buy heavy duty locks and lock bikes to racks in well lit, high traffic areas.
If you see suspicious activity, take note of the person, get a license plate number if possible, and call T Transit Police at 617-222-1212 or 911 in case of emergency.
