The $16.9 million project, with local, state and federal support, included construction of a new bridge to elevate outbound Burgin Parkway traffic over the Centre Street intersection and a new outbound ramp from the nearby intersection of Congress Street and Crown Colony Drive to the northbound ramp to Route 3; reconstruction of the Burgin Parkway/Centre Street and Crown Colony Drive intersections; and a new right turn from Centre Street to existing outbound ramps. More including photos including first ramp traffic after the jump.
The project will eliminate conflicts between the highest volumes of traffic during morning and evening peak hours. Work will continue on the remaining traffic signal and geometric improvements, lighting, landscaping and other items with project completion expected later this fall.
