The MassDOT Board responded promptly to the MBTA safety review ordered by Governor Patrick during its first meeting overseeing the MBTA Tuesday.
Transportation Secretary and CEO Jeff Mullan announced the following actions:
- A MassDOT Director of Facilities Safety will be accountable directly to the Secretary to ensure that safety is the top priority in allocation of capital funds for maintenance.
- A safety consultant, TRA, a nationally-recognized safety and security engineering firm will immediately audit MBTA safety practices.
- The MBTA has already convened senior operating and construction staff to review safety projects identified in the D'Alessandro report as critical and unfunded to ensure accuracy.
- The MBTA Board approved a contract to begin work immediately on leaks reported in the Red Line at the Alewife extension.
MBTA projects past, present, and planned can be found here.

I'm very disappointed to say that I am horrified with the way I was treat by one bus driver. the first time I ignored his ignorance be the second thing I couldn't let it pass. He was absolutely rude to me when I asked him a question stating "you ride this bus everyday why would you ask that question"...in my defence which I shouldn't even have to defend myself...the bus is on an abnormal route it appears to be the 45 to ruggles at 7:19 am but then once at dudley turns to the harvard bus 1...I'm a student and just because of my youth I should not be rudely disrespected...a bus driver should never rudely refuse to answer any question no matter how many times I ask its because its more then obvious I dont...
