How will the old MBTA, (buses, and subways) transition with the new massdot?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The new five-member MassDOT Board of Directors, all appointed directly by the Governor, oversee the new MassDOT but also function as the governing board of the MBTA. In addition, the MassDOT Transit Division leadership reporting directly to MassDOT Secretary and CEO Jeff Mullan oversee the MBTA, though it does remain a separate functioning state Authority. There will be the highest level of policy coordination between MassDOT and MBTA going forward.
