MBTA Transit Police Sgt. Brian Carey working at Back Bay Station Wednesday evening says he had a night like no other in his 21 years on the force.
He answered a call about a man threatening suicide by touching the electrified third rail. Sgt. Carey managed to engage the man in several minutes of conversation about family and other personal matters as efforts were made to cut power to the track. With dozens of passengers looking on, Sgt. Carey managed to talk the man out of harm's way.
