MassDOT's Right of Way Bureau has earned national recognition. The Bureau will receive the national 2010 Excellence in Right-of Way Award for Stewardship from the Federal Highway Administration following its statewide outreach program, Massachusetts Right of Way Process – Helping Communities Move Forward. Right of Way Bureau employees, left, are Thomas P. Gray, Director, Right of Way Bureau; Pamela Marquis, Community
Compliance Administrator; and Linda Walsh, Transportation Planner.
The federal Excellence in Right of Way Awards recognize outstanding innovations and honor right-of-way professionals who excel in streamlining or improving the real property acquisition process while protecting the rights of property owners and tenants.
MassDOT's Right of Way outreach program included training sessions throughout the Commonwealth reaching more than 1,000 people to better inform cities and towns about Federal and State requirements when acquiring right-of-way for highway construction projects in order to qualify for federal or state funding. This outreach program has increased awareness but also established stronger relationships between MassDOT and local city and town representatives. MassDOT will receive its award by the Federal Highway Administration in April. Visit the Right of Way Bureau web page.

It is great that MassDOT is being recognized for its efforts to work with Communities. We are so proud of you for your hard work.
