Historic Bridges Meeting Set for Cambridge

A Public Information Meeting for the River Street & Western Avenue Bridges rehabilitation project is scheduled for:

Tuesday, March 9, 6:30 – 8:30 PM

40 Granite Street, Cambridge, MA

The purpose of this meeting is to provide an overview of the proposed rehabilitation of the historic River Street and Western Avenue Bridges between Cambridge and Boston, introduce MassDOT’s design team, answer questions and gather comments. 

The River Street Bridge/Western Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation Project is part of MassDOT's Accelerated Bridge Program.  The project will repair the bridges, enhance accessibility, and preserve as many of the original elements of these historic structures as possible. The River Street Bridge constructed in 1926 and the Western Avenue Bridge constructed in 1924 are listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
