MassDOT is forming a work group to assist in the Green Line Extension project's Preliminary Engineering phase. Project managers will bring together MBTA officials, municipal representatives, business representatives and local citizens to form the GLX Design Working Group.
This working group will advise MassDOT on the design of six new stations proposed for the neighborhoods of Brickbottom, Gilman Square, Lowell Street, Ball Square, College Avenue, and Union Square, as well as the relocation of Lechmere Station and construction of a Maintenance Facility. Working group members will review design plans, gather and share local input and help plan public design events. The group will meet quarterly, although there may be more frequent meetings as preliminary engineering begins. The GLX Design Working Group will be an important component of the project’s public outreach during Preliminary Engineering. MassDOT is committed to a strong public outreach process to help create a Green Line Extension that best meets the needs of future riders, corridor municipalities and the MBTA.
MassDOT seeks interested citizens and business representatives who live in the three project corridor municipalities, are familiar with the neighborhoods around the proposed facilities, and use the MBTA system. To learn more and find a copy of an application to join the group, visit the Green Line Extension project website. Applications also are available at the local library or town clerk’s office.Interested parties should send their application, along with contact information, to Ms. Katherine Fichter at katherine.fichter@state.ma.us or to MassDOT, 10 Park Plaza, Suite 4150, Boston, MA 02116. All applications should be received by April 30. The group will be formed in May.
