Safety for transportation customers and workers is a MassDOT priority. State Traffic Engineer Neil Boudreau says MassDOT took quick action following concerns about safety at the intersections of Route 1
and George Street and Route 1 at Route 152 in Plainville.
MassDOT traffic safety experts joined the District office and Plainville Police in searching for the best answer to the problem. They reviewed crash data and causes and determined that improved signs to guide drivers would reduce the number of accidents.
In a matter of weeks following the first concerns being raised, MassDOT had built and installed new signs to assist people entering the intersections.
