THE RIDE, the T's Paratransit program, provides door-to door transportation to eligible people who cannot use general public transportation all or some of the time, because of a physical, cognitive or mental disability.
Lift equipped vans are used to serve persons with disabilities, including those who use wheelchairs and scooters. THE RIDE operates 365 days a year from 6AM to 1AM in sixty (60) cities and towns.
MBTA today received the following kind words about the RIDE program and staff from Rita Holmes of West Roxbury.
I just want you to know how impressed I am with the wonderful service you provide. I have been voluntarily helping out an elderly couple each morning to prepare for their day at adult day care, to which the RIDE takes them. I am awestruck by the courtesy, compassion and respect, not to mention patience, each driver has shown toward their customers. In this day and age, with the T getting a black eye for virtually anything that goes wrong, your RIDE program is the shining star of the T. Whoever runs the program, whoever trains the staff, each and every RIDE employee deserves kudos.
Sincerely,
Rita Holmes

The Ride is awesome they run 7 days a week, unlike the Bat bus in Brockton, who only operates service for the disabled Mon - Fri until 5pm, limited service on Saturday and no service at all on Sunday. If you are disabled and live in the Brockton area forget going to Church on Sunday unless you have other means of transportation. I know a woman who has lost both of her legs and would love to attend Church on Sunday, unfortunately she lives in the Brockton area and she has no other means of transportation, she has considered re-locating to an area that the ride services.
