With spring approaching, MassDOT contractors are ready to resume work starting Monday, February 28 at several locations as part of the $15.6 million Dorchester Avenue project in Boston, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The Dorchester Avenue project began in spring 2010 and will be completed in fall 2012, improving safety and mobility at four major intersections along the Dorchester Avenue corridor: Andrew Square, Glover's Corner, Fields Corner and Peabody Square. An additional 11 intersections will receive traffic signal equipment upgrades and interconnection and hardwire control to the City of Boston Traffic Management Center. All intersections will see accessibility and bicycle accommodation improvements.
The work schedule beginning Monday, February 28 through March 11, 7am-3pm weekdays, includes installation of traffic conduit and planter walls in the Gibson Street, Park Street, and Andrew Square locations. Watch for lane closures or detours in those areas.
As always, parking is not allowed in the work zones between 7am and 4pm.
