MassDOT Secretary Mullan and MBTA General Manager Davey joined Transit Police Chief Paul MacMillan at today's annual Municipal Police Officer’s Class Graduation held at Faneuil Hall.
The 61 graduates honored are joining 32 police departments, including 10 joining the MBTA Transit Police. The T Police Honor Guard and Irish American Association Pipes & Drums took part in the ceremonies.
The MBTA Transit Police Academy has been in existence since 1999 and has graduated more than 1,000 police officers. The Academy trains Transit Police recruits along with recruits from other cities, towns and campus police. Recruits receive 1,014 hours of training during 26 weeks of instruction on topics including constitutional laws defensive tactics, domestic abuse, and firearms training. Congratulations to all graduates!
