The MassDOT Transportation Advisory Committee (TAC) today gathered for the 5th time since its formation in August 2010.
The TAC is an independent body appointed by the MassDOT Secretary to serve as a public forum to discuss issues related to the implementation of the Commonwealth’s transportation reform legislation enacted in 2009 and to verify and observe MassDOT progress on reform.
The TAC serves as a resource to the MassDOT Board of Directors and MassDOT by providing input and feedback on DOT initiatives and serve as independent validators on the progress, success, and shortcomings of transportation reform.
The TAC is chaired by Alan Macdonald, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Business Roundtable. It members are leaders and experts in the transportation field, representing all modes and regions of the Commonwealth. TAC members recognize the importance of transportation reform to the success of MassDOT’s vision to “Lead the Nation in Transportation Excellence”.
The TAC plans to meet at least quarterly during 2011. At today's meeting, TAC members heard from MassDOT Secretary Mullan about the key ideas guiding year two of transportation reform.
