Many people may assume you need a car to witness nature’s wonders in the city of Boston, but you’d be surprised at how many birding locations are accessible by T.
The Suffolk Downs T Station located on the MBTA Blue Line is right next to Belle Isle Marsh, Department of Conservation and Recreation property that hosts a variety of bird species including tree sparrows, red tail hawks, woodpeckers, chickadees, and Canada geese.
You can also hop on the Orange Line and visit the Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain, the Green Line for the Boston Public Garden, and the Red Line for the Mt. Auburn Cemetery and Fresh Pond.
Even if most of your day is spent walking between buildings, nature is never far away. Check out more Massachusetts Outdoor Events on The Great Outdoors interactive Google Calendar.

And I'm sure one could take a bus to get to those areas as well from subway stations.

Uh, the Red Line is not anywhere near either Mt. Auburn Cemetery or Fresh Pond.
Might be a good idea for you to take a look at your systems maps before you post inaccurate and unhelpful information.

Thanks for the comment. The information is helpful and accurate for people outside of Cambridge interested in visiting these locations and walk to view birds. The Red Line Alewife stop is .9 miles from Fresh Pond, Harvard stop is 1.4 miles from Mt. Auburn. Depending on walking speed, one is less than 20 minutes and the other less than 30 minutes by walking.
