National Teen Driver Safety Week: October 14-20

MassDOT Registrar of Motor Vehicles Rachel Kaprielian will join law enforcement and local safety advocates on Friday, October 12 to kick-off National Teen Driver Safety Week in the Commonwealth. The nationally observed week focuses on parental involvement in driver’s education, junior operator programs, increasing seat belt use and reducing teen access to alcohol.

The kick-off event will be held Friday, October 12, 2:00 p.m. at the  Watertown RMV Branch, Watertown Shopping Center, 550 Arsenal Street.

Registrar Kaprielian will be joined by representatives of the Massachusetts State Police, Safe Roads Alliance, AAA, SADD,and other organizations.

Attendees will have an opportunity to win an E-Z Pass On the Go transponder, a NO WAIT RMV pass to be used on the customer’s next visit to a Registry of Motor Vehicles branch as well as three road-side safety kits.

An Emergency Service Patrol van will be on display to show teens and remind other drivers of the emergency gear to be carried in a vehicle. Parents and teens are also invited to learn more about the Parent’s Supervised Driving Program made possible by Safety Insurance.
