I-93 North between I-95 (Exit 1) in Canton and Route 24 (Exit 4) in Randolph will open tomorrow at 5:00 AM, Wednesday, November 14.

I-95 South between University Avenue (Exit 13) and I-93 North (Exit 12) in Canton will open at 5:00 AM on Thursday, November 15.

So by Thursday we should have the fourth lane open for southbound 128 traffic from University Ave all the way to 24 is that correct? Nothing more confusing than saying you are driving south on 128 while simultaneously driving north on 93!

Is it correct to assume that the 4th lane for northbound 128 traffic between the junction of 93/95 in Canton and Great Plain Ave will be a few more years out?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Effective this morning, the fourth travel lane on I-95 (Route 128) South from a point south of Route 109 to I-93 and on I-93 North from I-95 to Route 24 was fully opened to traffic. The 4th lane in the opposite direction within these same limits will be opened to traffic sequentially beginning after Thanksgiving.

Though traffic reports typically use Route 128 to describe the section of I-93 from I-95 to the Braintree split. Though it is probably easier for listeners to understand, actually Route 128 ends where I-95 meets I-93.

The 4th travel lane on the section of I-95 from a point just south of Route 109 northerly towards Great Plain Avenue remains under construction as part of a separate contract. That contract has a completion date of June 2015.

If you add a lane and subtract a lane will it really help? Why not keep use of the breakdown lane?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Use of the breakdown lane creates safety issues both for drivers and for vehicles that break down or otherwise must pull over. Construction of the permanent lane addresses those issues.

What is the schedule for opening the northbound side? And what is going on with the Rte 109 bridge--it seems like nothing has been happening all year, and the single lane on Rte 109 over the bridge is a traffic nightmare.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
During demolition of Rte 109, crews uncovered field condition issues that required a redesign. Work then resumed in late October at the Route 109 bridge. The work area is restricted in order to keep traffic moving safely in the work zone, which extends the length of time for work.
