The Real Time Travel App, “RTTM”, displays color-coded, current travel times on I-93 to and from Boston in real time. Boston-based transportation IT service company, KCUS Inc., developed the app, which follows the real-time travel message board traffic management system installed along I-93 earlier this year. The data displayed by the app is the same information displayed on the I-93 travel time message boards.
“By bus, train, subway, and now along our busiest highway corridor, we are tapping into the power of smart phone technology to provide customers with the answer to the most basic question- how long will it take to reach my destination?,” said Secretary Davey. “This partnership with KCUS, Inc. will help commuters make informed decisions about choosing the best routes and planning a trip.”
The RTTM App in its current version allows users to select certain specified I-93 routes and view current travel times, color-coded by speeds. The app also includes a detailed map view of each route with travel time and speeds displayed. Future versions of the App will include additional interactive features and incorporate more routes as the system expands to other highways in the Commonwealth.
As always, MassDOT reminds drivers to avoid using their smart phones while driving and check travel conditions before they drive.
The RTTM App is currently available for both iPhone and Windows Phone platforms. IPhone users can search for and download “RTTM” in the App Store, and Windows Phone users can do the same in the Marketplace. An Android version is being developed.
An RTTM real time travel map with color-coded speed and travel time displays is now also available on the MassDOT website.

Just what we need. More people looking at their cell phone instead of the road ahead of them. Although they warn against using the app while driving, you know they are going to do it anyway.

Thank you for making the real-time information available for I-93. I have a couple of questions related to other traffic information you provide online:
First, is there any planned expansion for the number of traffic cameras available to view along I-93 north of Boston? There only seem to be a couple cameras in the Somerville area and one near the I-93/I-95 interchange. This contrasts to the large number available south of town between Boston and I-95 in Canton.
Second, since your link took me to the road construction map first, is there some way to better monitor the information that is provided there? It seems as there are many outdated links as current ones. Many incidents from as far back as last summer are still posted because no end date was placed in the data field when the information was entered. If a lane closure is listed from last summer, one doesn't know if this is outdated information or a project that is still going on that could affect one's commute. Thanks.

Thanks for the comments, which will be forwarded regarding the road work map updates. Camera installations have been increased in number and are considered as part of road upgrade construction projects.
