MassDOT snow and
ice crews are prepared for the Friday-Saturday Winter Storm and we encourage everyone to avoid roadway travel if possible both days.
MassDOT has
more than 4,000 pieces of equipment available to treat and clear
state roads in the event of a major winter storm and will call upon those crews as needed. Crews pre-treat roads with salt and liquid deicers where conditions allow.
Pre-storm message boards have been activated notifying drivers of the impending storm.
For those who must travel, MassDOT urges everyone to check before traveling, drive safely and cautiously, and use public transportation where possible.
Our live online traffic cameras show current conditions on major state roadways.
We encourage you to review MassDOT’s winter driving tips.
MBTA buses, Red, Blue, Orange, Green, and Silver Lines and commuter rail may operate at reduced levels, resulting in less frequent service. Visit the MBTA Winter web page to learn more.

Are the mass pike, 495, and route 6 open to the cape.
